Position Overview
The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the creation, execution, and ongoing enhancement of the City's occupational health and safety initiatives and frameworks.
This position is tasked with promoting compliance to all relevant health and safety regulations while fostering a proactive culture centered on accident prevention, risk minimization, and the overall wellness of employees.
Key Functions
Operating in a dynamic, multi-location, project-intensive, and unionized setting, the Coordinator collaborates closely with the People Services department, City leadership, staff members, various Joint Health & Safety Committees, contractors, and external parties. The role involves facilitating effective safety measures, handling workplace incidents and related claims, and delivering comprehensive training and safety programs throughout the organization.
