Role overview

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity in a collaborative, values-led setting that avoids the heavy bureaucracy common in larger businesses. The role offers the chance to shape decisions, build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, and directly influence outcomes across the organisation.

What you will be responsible for

  • Setting the technology direction for the organisation and turning that strategy into delivery.
  • Running digital improvement work that strengthens services and improves how the business operates.
  • Owning cybersecurity, technology risk, and governance activities.
  • Managing core technology areas including infrastructure, business applications, cloud platforms, and external suppliers.
  • Leading a compact technology team while building accountability and a mindset of ongoing improvement.
  • Planning technology spend and supporting budget management and investment decisions.
  • Exploring and introducing emerging technologies, including AI, where they create measurable value.

What the organisation is looking for

The ideal person is a proven technology leader who can pair big-picture thinking with practical delivery. This role will suit someone who has held a Head of Technology, Technology Manager, IT Manager, or similar senior position and wants the chance to make a real difference without getting stuck in layers of internal process.

  • Demonstrated experience leading technology teams and functions.
  • Broad capability across infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and service delivery.
  • Evidence of delivering transformation, improvement, or modernisation initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders.
  • Experience handling vendors, budgets, and technology planning.
  • Ability to convert business requirements into workable technology outcomes.

Package and additional notes

  • The base salary is about $160,000 plus superannuation.
  • Through the not-for-profit salary packaging arrangement, the total package is valued at around $200,000.
  • The role will begin with responsibility for a small team of 2 to 3 staff.
  • Team growth may occur over time, and vendors or contractors can also be engaged to help deliver projects.
