Job description
About Circonomit
We are crafting the leading decision infrastructure for complex industrial challenges, enabling businesses to map real-world constraints into multidimensional optimization solutions. Our cutting-edge technology supports European industrial firms, particularly the German Mittelstand, in navigating shifting markets and operational complexities. Founded by RWTH Aachen researchers and backed by a €2.8M investment from Vorwerk Ventures, we have active customers relying on our optimization models.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
As Head of Customer Delivery, you will own end-to-end customer success by managing delivery projects and acting as the primary interface with clients. You will deeply grasp customer use cases to lead solution development alongside researchers, progressing projects from proof of value to paid onboarding pilots and enterprise contracts. This leadership role involves building the delivery function from the ground up—designing repeatable delivery processes, identifying strategic partners, and contributing to hiring decisions.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Engaging customers early to dissect their decision problems and develop initial models during pre-sales.
- Leading development projects end-to-end, accountable for outcomes beyond planning and coordination.
- Collaborating with modelers to define large-scale, decision-grade optimization solutions using real customer data and operational insights.
- Translating complex industrial realities—capacity, lead times, reliability, throughput—into clear optimization problems and actionable results, presenting outcomes to customer management effectively.
- Driving commercial conversions from proof of value to pilots and enterprise contracts by showcasing solution substance and sustaining long-term value.
- Creating and refining a delivery playbook, ensuring scalability and efficiency, and leading delivery team growth.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Strong technical and analytical background in engineering, computer science, data engineering, logistics, supply chain, finance with operations research, or related fields.
- Proficiency with handling complex, messy data sources such as ERP systems and Excel exports, with a keen eye for data accuracy.
- Experience structuring vague business challenges into quantitative models, identifying objectives, levers, and required data.
- Minimum 5 years of industry or consulting experience with demonstrable ownership of project outcomes; technical consulting background preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing efficiency and structured execution.
- Strong interpersonal skills, adept at stakeholder qualification and managing conversations to secure customers for pilots.
- Familiarity reading financial reports like P&Ls, discussing operational metrics such as OEE and inventory vs. service levels with plant managers.
- Comfortable with regular travel across the DACH region and conducting on-site customer engagements.
- Fluency in German (minimum C1 level) and English.
- Located in or near Cologne, with openness to work hybrid in Munich, Stuttgart, Berlin, or flexible if aligned with the company.
- Highly organized, action-oriented, and driven to deliver results independently without waiting for extended preparation or team support.
Additional Information
This role demands a proactive mindset focused on accountable delivery rather than project administration or advisory roles. Immediate customer engagement within a few days of starting is expected.
Benefits
- Meaningful impact by creating tangible value and leading decision-making
- Autonomy and ownership over customer outcomes and delivery strategy without bureaucratic delays
- Direct collaboration with researchers, modelers, and founders in a tight-knit team
- Opportunities to directly present and own key company and customer interactions
- Transparent, rapid feedback culture supporting growth and continuous improvement
- Competitive compensation with equity participation (VSOP) aligned with contribution and career progression
Recruitment Process
The hiring journey includes an introduction call with the CEO, a technical interview, a 60-90 minute case study exercise with prep materials, followed by additional team discussions both online and in person. Candidates are encouraged to seek candid conversations with current team members about the role.
