Role overview

Kellermeyer Bergensons Services (KBS) is hiring for a Handyperson in Largo, Florida. This is a hands-on role in a busy, fast-moving environment where the focus is on keeping the facility safe, clean, and functioning well. KBS is a large private facility-services provider supporting more than 2 billion square feet of space every day across retail, industrial, logistics, healthcare, education, manufacturing, and other sectors.

The position offers a starting wage of $17.31 per hour and includes early morning shifts from 4:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

What the job involves

  • Carry out assigned work in line with standard procedures and the building’s operating schedule.
  • Clean rooms, corridors, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairwells, and windows.
  • Sweep, pick up debris, clean spills, and mop floors in the sales floor and seating areas.
  • Inspect trash containers regularly, empty them as needed, and keep waste handled properly across the site.
  • Gather, sort, and place recycling into the correct bins.
  • Clean glass and mirrored surfaces and polish stainless-steel fixtures.
  • Dust shelves, fixtures, products, furniture, and equipment when needed.
  • Maintain customer and team-member restrooms, including cleaning and monitoring them as required.
  • Complete sweep logs when directed.
  • Use cleaning and maintenance equipment safely and keep it sanitized.
  • Follow health, sanitation, and safe-work procedures at all times.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, doors, windows, and sills.
  • Perform small carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs.
  • Handle touch-up and finish painting tasks.
  • Empty wastebaskets and restock restroom supplies.
  • Replace light bulbs as needed.
  • Set up and dismantle chairs, tables, and equipment for meeting and function rooms.
  • Observe all safety rules and procedures.
  • Report completed work daily to a supervisor, either verbally or through written work orders.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in building maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills for dealing with customers and management.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and chemical-handling documents, typically in English and, where required by law, also in Spanish.
  • Good critical thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and balance planning with execution.
  • Use of the KBSPresence mobile timekeeping app on a personal device is mandatory for non-exempt employees, including clocking in and out, tracking attendance, completing training, and receiving employment-related updates.
