Group IT Specialist

About the Role

The Hanly Group, which includes Hanly Quarries, Wincove Construction, and Hanly Castles, is expanding rapidly and seeking a knowledgeable Group IT Specialist to oversee and enhance the IT infrastructure across its varied businesses. This role is a unique chance to join a dynamic organization spanning sectors like construction, manufacturing, hospitality, and administration. The successful candidate will directly report to the CEO and collaborate closely with senior management to manage, support, and improve IT systems and cybersecurity efforts across the group.

The position is based either at the headquarters in Elphin, Co. Roscommon, or at one of the hotel properties, with regular travel to different group sites required.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee, configure, and maintain the Group's IT infrastructure, including servers, broadband links, modems, Wi-Fi networks, switches, firewalls, and endpoint devices.
• Ensure the IT systems remain secure, reliable, and optimized to enhance performance.
• Administer both on-premises and cloud environments to support seamless integration and uninterrupted business operations.
• Configure and manage firewalls, network protocols, and connectivity for multiple sites, including segregated Wi-Fi networks.
• Handle IP address management across all servers, networking components, and connected devices.
• Install and maintain network switching infrastructure, including fiber and CAT5/6 cable systems, with hands-on cable termination, testing, and fault diagnosis.
• Install and upgrade PC hardware components such as memory and storage devices as required.
• Administer Microsoft Windows Server environments and Microsoft 365 services, ensuring all systems and applications remain current and secure.
• Manage Office 365 applications and user accounts, including configuring automated email archiving for storage efficiency.
• Lead cybersecurity initiatives to safeguard company systems and information.
• Provide first- and second-level technical assistance to employees across all Group businesses, including device setup and migration of data and user profiles.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime.
• Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and documentation to streamline operations.
• Manage procurement of IT equipment and negotiate with suppliers to secure value and suitability.
• Research and implement innovative technology solutions that boost efficiency, productivity, and security.
• Coordinate installation and deployment of new systems and hardware.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of three years' hands-on experience in an IT infrastructure or systems administration role, preferably supporting multi-site environments.
• Strong expertise with Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Windows operating systems, and business software.
• Deep understanding of networking concepts, Wi-Fi technologies, firewalls, broadband connections, and cloud platforms.
• Experience working with servers, switches, fiber optic, and CAT5 networking hardware.
• Solid knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best security practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with the capability to operate independently across multiple locations and systems.
• Effective communication skills to explain technical information to non-technical staff clearly.
• Possession of a full driving license and willingness to travel as necessary within Group locations.
