Job description
Position overview
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School on Thursday Island is looking for a Groundsperson/Maintenance Officer to support the care and presentation of the school grounds across both the Thursday Island and Hammond Island campuses. The school serves remote Torres Strait communities and values the local Indigenous culture, faith, and traditions that shape the learning environment.
Role details
This is a permanent full-time position with an agreed start date. The role includes general grounds and maintenance duties, and it also involves some bus driving duties for morning pick-ups and school excursions.
Location
The school operates from two campuses in the Torres Straits: Thursday Island, which caters for Prep to Year 6, and Hammond Island, which serves Prep to Year 3, with older students travelling by ferry to the Thursday Island campus each day.
Employment and pay
Employment is full time and permanent. The salary is offered under the Services Staff Schedule Level 3 at $34.17 to $35.62 gross per hour, plus 12.75% superannuation.
Work requirements
- A current Working With Children Blue Card is required.
- You need a current driver’s licence and an LR bus licence, or a willingness to obtain the bus licence.
- You must support and uphold the values and ethos of Catholic Education.
