Groundskeeper

Overview

This role is for a Groundskeeper at Minto Group in Ottawa, Ontario, at the 30 Eleanor Dr, Nepean location. The position focuses on keeping outdoor areas tidy, serviced, and in good condition while supporting a workplace culture built around recognition, growth, and teamwork.

What the role involves

• Carry out planting, trimming, pesticide application, and other tasks related to the care and appearance of outdoor grounds and landscaping.
• Install plants and exterior features such as rock, cement, lighting, furniture, and water elements where needed.
• Maintain grounds through irrigation, pruning, raking, mulching, litter collection, and similar upkeep work.
• Operate relevant tools and equipment, including rakes, shovels, pruning tools, hand saws, axes, chain saws, power lawnmowers, and snow blowers when required.
• Regularly inspect outdoor areas to make sure they remain well maintained.
• Work with and oversee contractors responsible for cleanliness, landscaping, interior plant care, and snow removal when needed.
• Manage recycling and waste processes, including food waste, cardboard, and shredded paper disposal.
• Set up seasonal decorations for exterior and grounds areas when required.
• Take part in Health & Safety Committee meetings and help investigate action items related to daily building operations.
• Handle other duties that fit the role’s scope, purpose, and spirit as assigned by management.

What you need

• A high school education is required; a university degree or college diploma is considered an advantage.
• Between 1 and 3 years of relevant experience is needed.
• Comfort using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP, and Yardi.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong listening, spoken, and written communication skills.
• Good problem-solving ability and sound judgment.
• Initiative, creativity, and attention to detail.

Compensation and workplace

The hiring pay range for this position is $18 to $20 per hour. Minto also notes that its pay ranges reflect differences in skills, experience, market conditions, and location.
