About Cairns Rainforest Estate
Cairns Rainforest Estate, located in Kuranda, Queensland, is developing a unique eco-tourism destination set to open in late 2026. This 160-acre private rainforest will offer guided rainforest walks and showcase a tropical fruit orchard within the Wet Tropics.
Role Overview
We are recruiting a dependable and enthusiastic Grounds Person for a full-time position to help prepare and maintain the property. This role is essential in ensuring the estate's walking trails, grounds, and visitor facilities are safe, well-kept, and visually appealing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine grounds upkeep across the entire estate.
- Operate equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers, and tractors for vegetation control.
- Maintain rainforest walking paths in safe and presentable condition.
- Assist in the care and management of the tropical fruit orchard.
- Use chainsaws safely for light tree work and trail maintenance.
- Conduct general repairs and upkeep of estate property and facilities.
- Contribute to the preparation and expansion of visitor amenities.
- Upkeep high standards of safety and appearance on the property.
Candidate Profile
- Enjoyment of outdoor, physical work and demonstrated pride in task execution.
- Experience operating zero-turn mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws, and tractors preferred.
- Strong adherence to workplace health and safety practices.
- Ability to problem solve practically and work both independently and in a small team.
- Creative mindset to suggest improvements enhancing property and visitor experience.
- Good physical condition for manual labor in a tropical climate.
- Essential possession of a current manual driver’s license.
- Chainsaw certification and tractor operation experience are valuable additions.
