About the role
This is a site-based opportunity in Brendale for a Greenkeeper Team Leader who will look after the day-to-day condition of multiple sports fields used for different types of sport. The focus of the position is to keep the playing surfaces in excellent condition throughout the year, supporting student life through well-maintained facilities. The role also includes guiding and developing an Apprentice Greenkeeper and supervising a team of five on site.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine turf care work, including mowing and whipping, across a range of sporting fields.
- Assess turf condition and take preventive and corrective action for issues such as pests, disease, and soil compaction using suitable cultural and chemical methods.
- Use and look after specialised tools, plant, and machinery so they remain safe and operate effectively.
- Work with other teams to plan maintenance timing, set priorities, and achieve high-quality outcomes.
- Maintain clear communication with the team and the client to understand expectations, resolve concerns, and offer guidance on field care and maintenance.

About you
You should ideally hold a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management and bring recent experience in turf management or greenkeeping. This role suits someone looking for a new challenge and motivated to take ownership of the upkeep and improvement of sporting fields at a high-profile location.
You will have a solid understanding of grass varieties, their growth patterns, and the care they need. You should also be comfortable working with turf equipment and machinery such as mowers, aerators, and sprayers.
A valid driver’s licence, white card, and Working with Children Check are required, or you must be willing to obtain them. Having an MR licence is preferred.
Attention to detail, strong personal standards, and a commitment to completing work to a high level are essential, along with the ability to work closely with the client to deliver results that go beyond expectations.
