Job description
About the role
Agora AI Hub is seeking a volunteer graphic designer and illustrator who wants their creative work to support civic and social impact, rather than only commercial branding. The role is centered on visual storytelling for causes related to democracy, AI, civil society, and advocacy.
About Agora AI Hub
Agora AI Hub is a European civic-tech and advocacy platform working where artificial intelligence, democracy, and civil society meet. With teams in Brussels and Munich, the organization supports NGOs, activists, diaspora communities, and civic leaders across Europe by helping them use AI-powered tools to advocate, organize, and safeguard democratic values.
What you will work on
- Produce social media creatives, infographics, and campaign assets with a clean, editorial style.
- Build illustrations that make complex policy and advocacy themes easier to understand.
- Create visual systems, brand elements, and reusable templates for Agora AI Hub communications.
- Work alongside the content and social media teams to keep the visual language consistent.
- Support visual storytelling for initiatives focused on AI ethics, democratic resilience, and migration.
What the organization is looking for
- A portfolio that shows conceptual, editorial, or social-impact-oriented design work; portfolios focused only on commercial branding are not a strong fit.
- Hands-on experience using Figma, Illustrator, or similar design tools.
- The ability to work on your own and deliver outputs on a flexible schedule of 5 to 8 hours per week.
- Strong interest in civic issues, democracy, human rights, or similar public-interest themes.
- Extra value if you have worked with NGOs, student groups, or advocacy initiatives.
Volunteer benefits
- Portfolio-building work with real civic and political relevance.
- An official reference letter from Agora AI Hub and/or Promote Ukraine Foundation partners.
- Exposure to a Brussels-linked network focused on EU affairs and civic tech.
- Possibility of moving into a paid position as the platform expands.
- A collaborative community of people working toward shared change, not just a standard workplace.
Time commitment and location
This is a remote volunteer opportunity, with a preference for candidates based in Europe. The expected commitment is 5 to 8 hours each week, and the engagement is planned for 3 to 6 months.
Application details
To apply, share your portfolio along with a brief note explaining why the project matters to you.
Additional information
This is an unpaid volunteer role. The opportunity offers practical project experience, portfolio-ready work, and an official reference letter from the organization’s NGO/Foundation partners.
