Overview
This is a remote hourly contract opportunity for a Geospatial Analysis Specialist with strong QGIS expertise. The work focuses on building reliable spatial data solutions, automating analysis tasks, and producing clear map-based outputs that support decision-making.
The engagement is set at 10 to 40 hours per week, with compensation ranging from $30 to $80 per hour.
What you will do
- Build, organize, and support spatial databases while keeping data accurate and well maintained.
- Use QGIS for advanced geoprocessing and spatial modelling to turn location data into practical insights.
- Create, adapt, and sustain QGIS plugins and extensions to match project needs.
- Streamline geospatial workflows with Python and PyQGIS so analysis is more efficient and reproducible.
- Prepare polished maps and visual materials for reporting and business use.
- Work with different teams to convert requirements into workable geospatial solutions.
- Explain technical results and spatial concepts clearly in both written and spoken communication.
Required background
- Deep working knowledge of QGIS, including spatial database handling, geoprocessing, and map creation.
- Solid Python skills, with practical experience using PyQGIS to automate tasks.
- Good understanding of map projections, coordinate reference systems, and data transformation methods.
- Ability to tailor QGIS through plugin creation, scripting, or extension management.
- Strong communication ability for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to produce professional cartographic deliverables for operational or business purposes.
- Well-developed organization, attention to detail, and the ability to handle several priorities at once.
