Company Overview

Coral Expeditions is one of Australia’s original cruise operators, known for small-ship expedition travel and immersive journeys. Starting with trips on the Great Barrier Reef, the business has expanded into a fleet of three vessels that typically host between 72 and 120 guests. For more than 40 years, the company has focused on taking small groups of curious travellers to remote destinations, supported by knowledgeable guiding and genuine Australian hospitality. It offers both local and international itineraries and is part of the NRMA Group, alongside businesses such as NRMA Parks & Resorts, SIXT car rental, NRMA Electric Vehicle charging, and other marine operations.

Role Summary

The business is seeking experienced Deck Team Members to join the fleet immediately and support vessel operations.

Key Duties

  • Serve as tender master when required.
  • Carry out routine deck work and general vessel upkeep.
  • Support maintenance activities on board.
  • Act as ship lookout.
  • Perform watchkeeping responsibilities.
  • Assist passengers and interact with them professionally.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must hold one of the following certificates of competency:

  • Master
  • Navigational Watch Rating
  • Able Seafarer (Deck)

In addition, applicants must have all of the following:

  • Certificate of Safety Training (CoST) endorsed by AMSA.
  • Current AMSA medical certificate.
  • Valid first aid and CPR certification.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working on passenger ships.
  • Proficiency in survival craft, which is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of crowd control and crisis management.

Rosters and Commitment

Work rosters may require a commitment of up to 6 weeks for domestic voyages and up to 8 weeks for international voyages.
