Role Overview

A confidential, fast-growing multi-regional commercial and property services company is hiring a General Manager / President to guide the next stage of expansion. The organization employs about 250 people and delivers on-site services through a route-based operating model across several territories. This position is best suited to a senior leader who can balance long-range growth planning with disciplined day-to-day execution, revenue development, and strong operational control.

Location

Portland, Maine is the preferred base. Candidates may also be considered from anywhere in Maine, New Hampshire, or Massachusetts as long as they are within roughly a 2-hour commute of Portland.

Key Responsibilities

You will take ownership of overall leadership, regional growth, and performance across the business. The role calls for a hands-on executive who can strengthen structure, improve field operations, and protect major customer relationships while supporting ongoing expansion.

  • Set the strategic direction for the company and lead regional growth, commercial market expansion, and overall profit-and-loss performance.
  • Oversee a decentralized workforce of around 250 employees, including field staff, route-based technicians, and managers across multiple departments.
  • Manage and grow enterprise B2B accounts while ensuring consistent service quality and strong client retention.
  • Build more efficient processes, strengthen dispatch and routing systems, and introduce clear metrics and accountability into daily operations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal hire has already led as a General Manager, President, VP of Operations, or Regional Branch Manager in a service-driven business that has scaled successfully. The background should include managing mobile, distributed, or multi-location teams and operating in an environment where growth and operational discipline both matter.

  • Strong executive leadership experience in a non-manufacturing, service-based company with a record of measurable business growth.
  • Direct experience managing decentralized field teams, mobile crews, or multi-site operations.
  • Background in commercial field services such as commercial building/business services, HVAC, electrical, mechanical trades, plumbing, pest control, janitorial or commercial cleaning, mold remediation/restoration, or commercial landscaping is especially relevant.
  • Ability to think strategically about 3 to 5 years of growth while still keeping current operations organized and running smoothly.
  • Experience leading large teams and complex structures of roughly 150 to 300+ people.
