Role Summary
The General Manager Operations for FMCG Manufacturing is a permanent, onsite role based at the main office and factory in Melbourne. The position involves comprehensive management of manufacturing processes to ensure operational efficiency, maintain quality, and uphold safety and compliance standards. Key daily functions include supervising and mentoring operations teams, enhancing processes, managing production timelines, and leading ongoing improvements across the manufacturing site. Collaboration with commercial, supply chain, and quality departments is crucial to ensure alignment of operational outcomes with company goals and customer requirements. Responsibilities also encompass budget oversight, cost management, and strategic contribution to support business growth and profitability in a dynamic FMCG environment.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive senior or general management background with demonstrated ability to provide leadership, use data-driven decision-making, and manage cross-functional operations in the food or consumer goods manufacturing sector.
- Proven expertise in operations management encompassing production scheduling, process optimization, quality assurance, safety, and adherence to regulatory standards in high output settings.
- Focus on customer service to ensure production meets client specifications, deadlines, and service agreements.
- Strong team leadership skills including coaching, performance evaluation, and developing a positive, cooperative culture both on the shop floor and within support teams.
- Competence in budgeting and financial oversight, experienced in controlling costs, allocating resources, and monitoring key performance indicators aimed at enhancing operational profitability.
- Relevant tertiary education in operations management, engineering, business administration, or related disciplines, or equivalent leadership experience in FMCG manufacturing.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement principles such as Lean or Six Sigma and the ability to drive structured improvement projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills, capable of engaging with senior executives, suppliers, and outside partners effectively.
