General Accountant

Role overview

BoomerangFX is looking for a detail-driven General Accountant to join its finance team in a hands-on role based in Mississauga. This is an on-site position requiring presence five days a week. The opportunity sits within a fast-scaling SaaS business operating in a high-growth, entrepreneurial setting with ambitions toward an IPO.

The company operates in healthcare technology and supports private-pay practices with software for practice management, EMR, scheduling, lead generation, and digital marketing. The role reports to the Controller and is responsible for protecting the accuracy of financial records while managing the end-to-end accounting cycle.

Compensation and work setup

Base pay is listed at $60,000 to $80,000 per year. The role is fully on-site in Mississauga, Ontario, with a five-day office schedule.

Key responsibilities

You will manage core accounting operations, support financial reporting, and help keep the books accurate and current. The position requires independent ownership of recurring accounting tasks, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with other departments.

• Reconcile bank accounts on a weekly and monthly basis
• Handle semi-monthly payroll in coordination with HR, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Take charge of accounts payable and vendor administration, including invoice coding, verification, payment processing, vendor record maintenance, and discrepancy resolution
• Prepare weekly AP aging reports
• Complete monthly AP and AR reconciliations, investigate variances, and match subledgers to the general ledger
• Analyze cash flow by tracking inflows and outflows, preparing cash position summaries, and building management projections
• Own the full accounting cycle from journal entries through financial reporting
• Support and lead the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and related schedules
• Review numbers independently, investigate root causes of mismatches, and fix routine errors without heavy supervision
• Keep records well organized and up to date in QuickBooks Online
• Suggest and implement improvements that make accounting and reporting processes more efficient

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
• CPA designation, equivalent qualification, or active progress toward CPA
• At least 5 years of experience in general accounting or audit
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and the full accounting cycle
• Mandatory hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, including independent use of records and reports
• Demonstrated background in accounts payable, vendor management, and bank reconciliations
• Independent payroll processing experience
• Intermediate-level Excel capability, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and intermediate formulas
• Strong accuracy and the ability to consistently meet deadlines
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work across operations, sales, and HR
• Self-directed mindset with integrity, curiosity, problem-solving ability, and comfort working with minimal oversight
• Positive team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn and contribute

Preferred experience

• Background in SaaS, technology, or startup environments
• Exposure to tools such as Stripe, Float, ChurnZero, ADP, or comparable systems
• Payroll processing experience using Ceridian or ADP
