About the Role

Job Purpose
This role is centered on carrying out the inspection work needed in the SASOS workshop.
Key Duties
- Perform bulk strip and detailed strip inspections on gas turbines.
- Prepare reports covering bulk strip findings and detailed defects on engines.
- Conduct stage inspections throughout engine assembly/build activities.
- Manage workshop control order files and the related supporting records.
- Support the Company Quality Assurance representative when the supervisor is unavailable.
- Make sure all workshop measuring instruments are approved, calibrated, and certified in line with QMS manuals.
- Help develop and update workshop procedures whenever needed.
- Identify appropriate and cost-effective alternatives to OEM options for materials, repairs, and overhauls.
- Coordinate the shipping and receiving of materials with SASOS-approved vendors.
- Ensure shipping, receipt, progress tracking, and follow-up of sub-contracted activities are handled promptly and efficiently.
- Work to secure the most economical turnaround time for engine materials requiring repair, overhaul, or replacement.
- Issue certificates of conformity for materials supplied to customers and materials purchased for customers.
- Assist with shop-floor fitting tasks as assigned by the Charge Hand or Operations Manager.
- Carry out additional duties related to the role as reasonably required by the company.
Education
A minimum NC in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred. An HNC in Mechanical Engineering is even more desirable. Candidates without formal qualifications may still be considered if they can demonstrate strong relevant experience.
Experience
Applicants should have prior experience in a similar position.
Knowledge and Technical Requirements
- Practical understanding of industrial gas turbines and/or power turbines, along with related equipment.
- Ability to interpret illustrated parts catalogues.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
