Role overview
Arriva is hiring a dependable and physically capable Garage and Bus Cleaner to support the upkeep of its buses and depot site in Derby. The position focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment for passengers, drivers, and other staff.
Working hours and pay
This is a 39-hour full-time role, scheduled Monday to Friday. Standard working hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm. The pay rate is £13.38 per hour.
What you will do
- Clean bus interiors and exteriors to a consistently high standard, covering seats, floors, windows, handrails, and driver areas.
- Remove waste and dispose of rubbish according to the company’s procedures.
- Disinfect interiors, especially touchpoints that are frequently used by passengers and staff.
- Perform deeper cleaning tasks from time to time, such as scrubbing, polishing, and sanitising vehicles.
- Keep depot spaces tidy, including workshops, offices, staff rooms, welfare areas, and outside sections.
- Use cleaning tools, materials, and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Spot and report damage, faults, or maintenance concerns noticed during cleaning work.
- Work in line with company rules, cleaning expectations, and health and safety standards.
- Track cleaning supplies and flag any shortages so stock levels remain sufficient.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will bring prior cleaning experience, preferably from a commercial, industrial, transport, or facilities setting. You should be comfortable working alone or with others, understand safe cleaning methods and health and safety basics, and be able to handle the physical side of the job. A reliable, punctual attitude and strong work ethic are important. A full UK driving licence would be helpful, but it is not required.
