About FWM Partners

FWM Partners is a New York-based family office managing the investment portfolio of a single family. The firm focuses on a research-led, long-term capital allocation strategy across both public and private markets, especially emphasizing hedge funds and alternative investment managers. Their approach is characterized by long-term thinking, flexibility, rigorous analysis, independent judgement, and intellectual honesty.

Position Overview

We are expanding our investment team and seek a Fund Analyst to support sourcing, assessing, and continuously monitoring hedge fund managers across various strategies including equity long/short, credit, macro, and multi-strategy. This role involves close collaboration with the Chief Investment Officer and offers hands-on exposure to the entire due diligence process within a lean team structure, where individual contributions directly influence investment choices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct due diligence on potential hedge fund managers by analyzing strategies, attributing performance, and evaluating risks.
  • Develop and update financial models to assess manager track records, investment exposures, and risk-adjusted performance metrics.
  • Prepare comprehensive investment memoranda summarizing research insights, evaluation outcomes, and recommendations.
  • Support ongoing monitoring of current manager relationships, including tracking performance and exposure analysis.
  • Examine fund documentation such as Limited Partnership Agreements, side letters, and Due Diligence Questionnaires to understand terms and structural features.
  • Maintain internal databases and systems to track manager research effectively.
  • Assist in organizing and participate in meetings and calls with managers, including drafting follow-up inquiries.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in hedge fund research, fund-of-funds, investment consulting, prime brokerage, or similar investment roles.
  • Exhibit strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, including advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Python or other analytic tools is advantageous.
  • Have a solid understanding of hedge fund strategies, structures, and industry terminology.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly distill complex information.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and robust organizational skills.
  • Work effectively with autonomy in a small team environment with significant individual responsibility.
  • Hold at least a bachelor's degree.
