Role Overview

Movers+Shakers is seeking a Freelance Social Media Analyst to strengthen its Analytics team by delivering insightful social media reporting and analysis. This position focuses on leveraging data beyond basic metrics to support smarter brand strategies by exploring social media trends, consumer behaviors, and online culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive reporting monthly, quarterly, and for campaigns across various client portfolios.
  • Manage and connect client social accounts on platforms like Sprout Social, Rival IQ, Tubular, Brandwatch, ensuring reliable data gathering.
  • Take charge of social listening, analyze audience engagement, track creator performance, and conduct competitive benchmarking.
  • Maintain and update dashboards, scorecards, benchmarks, and streamline reporting workflows regularly.
  • Stay updated with platform changes, emerging conversations, and consumer trends to identify actionable insights.
  • Oversee data quality and accuracy review of reports developed by junior teams.
  • Support Strategists, Account Managers, and Analytics leads with custom reporting and campaign performance analysis.
  • Ensure the precision and consistency of all reporting deliverables through meticulous quality assurance.
  • Organize internal analytics assets, repositories, and reporting templates to maintain process efficiency.
  • Seek out improvements for reporting scalability and operational effectiveness.
  • Embrace and contribute to the company’s social-first measurement and data storytelling philosophy.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Background in social analytics, digital marketing, performance measurement, or related roles via agency, consulting, freelance, or in-house experience.
  • Keen interest in social media dynamics, internet culture, creator ecosystems, and conversation drivers.
  • Knowledgeable in social media reporting tools and able to handle API limitations, especially on platforms such as TikTok.
  • Proficient with social listening and analytics software, including Sprout Social, Rival IQ, Tubular, Brandwatch, Talkwalker, Meltwater, or comparable tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the capability to spot patterns and communicate insights effectively.
  • Comfortable managing data spreadsheets and learning new measurement platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong emphasis on data accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Skilled at handling multiple projects independently within a fast-moving agency setting.
  • Driven to consistently expand analytical and strategic skillsets through curiosity and inquiry.
  • Innovative thinker eager to explore emerging social platforms and evolving consumer trends.
