Job description

About Ataraxis AI

Ataraxis AI is a clinical AI research lab focused on the overlap of multimodal artificial intelligence and precision medicine. Its mission is to make diseases more predictable by building AI systems that forecast patient outcomes and treatment response, and by creating clinical tools that help physicians choose the most suitable therapies.

The team develops methods that detect patterns and predict outcomes from complex clinical data sources. Its work includes causal inference research through Ataraxis™ Tau, foundation-model research for digital pathology with Falcon and Kestrel, and survival analysis.

The company’s first clinical products, including Ataraxis™ Breast for breast cancer, are already supporting treatment decisions at leading academic centers and community clinics around the world.

Joining Ataraxis means contributing to the future of both the company and healthcare more broadly. You would work alongside a high-performing team in clinical AI research and deployment, with guidance from advisors such as Yann LeCun and noted oncologists from major cancer research institutions.

Ataraxis has secured more than $24 million in funding, which includes a $20 million Series A backed by investors such as Thiel Capital/Founders Fund, Obvious Ventures, and AIX Ventures.

The organization follows a flat structure where team members are expected to contribute directly and take ownership. Leadership is earned through initiative and consistently strong results, and the role calls for a high level of drive and the ability to focus on the highest-priority work.

Role overview

This position will help drive the expansion of Ataraxis into one of the next cancer indications beyond breast cancer. The company already has a pan-cancer AI platform that has been internally validated across multiple tumor types, and this role is focused on building the conditions needed for a successful commercial launch in the next indication(s).

Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure real-world datasets, clinical trial datasets, and biobank resources that can support model development and evaluation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, clinical advisors, early adopters, and research partners to test ideas, collect feedback, and uncover potential customers and collaborators.
  • Create internal materials such as memos and draft collateral to prepare future medical affairs and sales efforts.
  • Work closely with the CEO to move the launch forward quickly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with engineering and research teams to help shape clinically rigorous model development.

Qualifications

The role calls for at least 2 years of experience in biotech, pharma, diagnostics, healthcare strategy, management consulting, or finance.

Preferred academic backgrounds include an MD, PhD, PharmD, NP, or a master’s degree in fields such as cancer biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biomedical sciences, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related life sciences discipline.

Candidates should be able to learn rapidly and independently, especially when working through complex scientific and medical topics.

Strong communication skills are important, including the ability to speak effectively with different audiences ranging from medical experts to software engineers. Experience presenting scientific material is helpful but not required.

Experience writing academic or scientific content, such as peer-reviewed manuscripts or grant applications, is preferred.

The ideal candidate should be highly action-oriented and able to understand how research and development connects to customer experience and product quality.

Working style

This is a high-ownership role in a fast-moving, flat organization. Success depends on initiative, speed, prioritization, and a willingness to work across technical and clinical stakeholders.
