Food Preparer

Overview

O-Sho Japanese Restaurant is hiring a food preparer in Lethbridge, Alberta. This role is based at the restaurant location and must be performed in person; remote work is not available.

Language

English is required for this position.

Education

No diploma, certificate, or degree is needed.

Experience

Applicants should have between 1 and less than 7 months of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Move clean plates, cutlery, and other service items to dining or serving areas and prepare tables.
• Replace linens and handle linen movement as needed.
• Wash, disinfect, and maintain items such as dish mats, carts, and waste-disposal equipment.
• Load bus tubs and trays for dishwashing and kitchen use.
• Run dishwashers to clean dishes, glassware, and flatware.
• Put cleaned dishes into storage.
• Refill condiments and other table or service-area supplies.
• Hand-wash and sanitize dishes and related items.
• Scrub pots and pans.
• Track the amounts of food being used.
• Portion and package food items.
• Restock refrigerators and salad bars.
• Use manual and powered equipment to wash, peel, slice, and trim food ingredients.
• Clean and disinfect kitchen spaces, including counters, cabinets, storage areas, appliances, and tools.
• Manage and store cleaning supplies safely.
• Receive deliveries, unpack stock, and place supplies in fridges, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
• Take out kitchen garbage and waste.
• Keep kitchen knives sharpened.
• Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors.
• Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit.

Additional Information

This position is physically demanding and involves a fast-moving work environment, repetitive duties, standing for long periods, handling heavy loads, and working under pressure. Strong attention to detail is important. The maximum weight that may need to be handled is up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
