About Apex Apparels
Apex Apparels is a Gurugram-based export garment manufacturer that has been operating since 2014. The company works with international luxury labels and makes high-quality apparel for babies, children, and adults. Its products are developed using responsibly sourced materials such as organic cotton, merino wool, bamboo, linen, and other natural fibres, with a strong focus on quality, innovation, sustainability, and efficient operations.
Role Overview
The company is looking for a capable and driven Floor Manager to handle day-to-day production on the shop floor. This role is responsible for meeting production plans, maintaining quality benchmarks, improving productivity, and ensuring orders are shipped on time. A strong background in export garment manufacturing is important, especially in knitwear and premium materials like merino wool.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily manufacturing activity and make sure planned output targets are met.
- Track line efficiency, manpower deployment, and hourly production output.
- Ensure coordinated workflow across cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing.
- Identify and reduce bottlenecks, delays, and machine or process downtime.
- Maintain product quality in line with buyer expectations and standards.
- Work to reduce DHU, rework, and alterations through active quality control.
- Support line balancing, lean practices, 5S, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Improve productivity while keeping manufacturing costs under control.
- Supervise supervisors, operators, and other production team members.
- Run daily production meetings and resolve shop-floor issues quickly.
- Coach, guide, and motivate the team to perform at a high level.
- Promote discipline, attendance, and a safe working culture.
- Ensure adherence to buyer requirements and internal factory procedures.
- Coordinate closely with Merchandising, IE, QA, Maintenance, Stores, HR, and Dispatch.
- Monitor safety rules, housekeeping standards, and PPE usage on the floor.
Requirements
- 5 to 12 years of experience in garment manufacturing, stitching, cutting, or textile production.
- Prior exposure to export garment manufacturing is mandatory.
- Experience with knitwear or merino wool products will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of garment construction and sewing operations.
- Knowledge of line balancing, production planning, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with shrinkage, dimensional stability, stitch quality, and prevention of needle damage.
- Ability to use ERP/MIS tools and Microsoft Excel effectively.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Capable of working under pressure and delivering within tight timelines.
- Qualification in Fashion Technology, Apparel Manufacturing, Textile Engineering, or a related field.
- Industrial Engineering knowledge will be considered an added advantage.
