Role overview

Mercury, a European leader in construction solutions, is hiring a Fire Protection Fitter to join its Sustaining team within the Fire Protection division. The role involves working from a Sustaining Works van and will be primarily based in the Dublin/Leinster area, depending on where work is available. Mercury delivers complex engineering and construction projects across sectors such as enterprise data centres, advanced technology, life sciences, hyperscale data centres, and fire protection.

Key duties

  • Install a range of sprinkler systems and support related fire protection works.
  • Plan and complete small to medium jobs, including direct interaction with clients.
  • Carry out site surveys and coordinate with the design team.
  • Travel across the country as required.
  • Work independently and take initiative to progress tasks.
  • Maintain strong relationships and communication with clients.
  • Drain and refill sprinkler systems competently.
  • Operate fire pumps and associated fire alarm equipment.
  • Work from sprinkler drawings and job plans.
  • Apply knowledge of LPC and FM sprinkler standards.

Requirements

  • Experience installing different types of sprinkler systems.
  • Background as an experienced sprinkler pipefitter.
  • Safe Pass and manual handling certification.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Comfort working under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • National Craft Certificate.
  • Full driving licence is preferred, though listed as optional.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, or a willingness to gain it.
  • Ability to manage a job through to completion and attend whiteboard meetings.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal working hours.
  • Construction background is desirable.
