Role overview
An international consultancy is looking for a Financial Management Expert to support a building and infrastructure assignment in Rwanda, East Africa. The position is remote, so the specialist can work from their own country rather than being based on site, and the engagement is on a part-time basis.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should hold at least a master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a closely related discipline. A recognised professional credential such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent is required. Extra learning or exposure in Public Financial Management, Project Finance, Infrastructure Finance, or financing for the water and sanitation sector will be viewed positively.
Professional experience
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience in financial management for major infrastructure assignments, including water supply, sanitation, building construction, transport, or similar fields.
- Practical background in public-sector finance, covering budgeting, financial planning, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting.
- Prior involvement in donor-funded initiatives, along with familiarity with international standards for finance, accounting, auditing, and reporting.
- Strong capability in financial analysis, cost optimisation, financial modelling, and managing financial risks for large or complex projects.
- Experience in drafting and reviewing financial statements, audit documentation, and compliance reports while meeting both national and international requirements.
- Experience with financial management in water supply and sanitation projects is a notable advantage.
Work arrangement
This assignment can be performed remotely from any country. On-site presence is not required.
