About the Role
JD Sports Canada is seeking a Financial Analyst to play a key strategic role in enhancing the company’s financial performance. Based at the Vancouver headquarters, this position focuses on building out the Financial Planning & Analysis function while executing strategies developed by the FP&A Manager. The role requires expertise in sales forecasting, retail planning, and regular sales reporting and analysis for both brick-and-mortar and e-commerce channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the annual budgeting, financial planning, and continuous forecasting processes.
- Monitor departmental spending against budgets and identify variances for managerial review.
- Analyze financial statements and update financial models under the FP&A Manager’s supervision.
- Develop baseline revenue projections using past data for both retail stores and online sales platforms.
- Support month-end closing activities by compiling data and preparing preliminary variance reports.
- Perform routine cost evaluations, benchmarking, and risk assessments to aid business decisions.
- Create seasonal sales phasing models by utilizing historical sales figures and retailer input.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial research and data analysis to fulfill requests from leadership.
- Collaborate on reviewing weekly, period-end, and quarterly financial outcomes and assist in drafting summary commentaries.
- Contribute to the development of new dashboards to improve automation and reporting methods.
- Prepare reports and presentation materials for senior analysts, managers, and executives.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
- Experience in retail finance, with solid knowledge of key performance indicators such as conversion rates, average transaction value (ATV), and units per transaction (UPT).
- 2-4 years of experience in financial planning, modeling, and analysis.
- Proficiency with Netsuite and Workday Financials software; familiarity with Jesta ERP is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of financial models and strategic financial planning.
- Advanced Excel capabilities to create and maintain complex financial reports.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Salary Range: 70000 to 80000 CAD per year.
