Job description
Role summary
This position is centered on managing financial accounting activities for cobranded arrangements, card member services costs, partner payments, and new business acquisition accounting. The role also involves reconciling and reporting financial information, partnering closely with internal business teams, improving process efficiency, speeding up accounting workflows, and strengthening governance.
Key responsibilities
- Handle collection-related follow-ups for overdue accounts and take preventive action on accounts that show elevated exposure to reduce future delinquencies.
- Take ownership of major enterprise finance processes, including card member services costs, new business acquisition accounting, and operating expense accounting.
- Make sure service-level commitments are delivered accurately and on time, with sufficient process controls to protect data integrity.
- Apply solid knowledge of the full accounts receivable/accounts payable flow, accounting, and reconciliation, along with familiarity with US GAAP, local GAAP, IFRS, and the relevant business products.
- Generate useful data-based insights and trend analysis to support finance decisions, planning, and forecasting for business partners.
- Maintain accuracy of financial and data records, while ensuring compliance with internal SLAs, policies, guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements; ability to coordinate across multiple time zones is needed.
- Use strong accounting and reconciliation capabilities, a control-oriented mindset, and the ability to interpret contractual terms and apply them correctly to related functions and activities.
- Work effectively with stakeholders across controllership, business finance, audit, and control teams, using strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Operate confidently with MS Office tools, Oracle applications, Essbase, and Smart View.
- Support control and compliance requirements, especially around SOX and internal controls.
Qualifications and requirements
- Graduate or postgraduate degree in Commerce with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in financial accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including the skill to investigate and resolve issues in large data sets.
- Excellent spoken and written communication, along with effective presentation skills.
- Ability to question existing processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Quick to learn, detail-oriented, and comfortable working through ambiguity.
- Capable of working across different time zones.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Preferred advantage: sound understanding of general accounting principles and basic techno-finance or automation knowledge.
