About the Role

PGG Wrightson Seeds Limited is inviting applications for a Financial Accountant to join the Finance team based at their Pākākano office in Lincoln, Canterbury. This role is part of the Oceania group headquarters, which encompasses over 500 employees across New Zealand and Australia. As a subsidiary of the global DLF Group with operations worldwide, you will be part of an international co-operative.

Job Responsibilities

  • Produce statutory financial statements for the Oceania region, including those for Joint Venture entities.
  • Assist with the annual audit process by providing accurate and prompt information.
  • Prepare and review indirect tax returns such as GST, FBT, NRWT, and RWT for New Zealand group companies.
  • Support year-end tax estimates, reconciliations, and tax disclosures.
  • Offer assistance on international tax matters, including Transfer Pricing, BEPS Pillar Two, and other cross-border tax issues.
  • Review group financial reporting submissions and key reconciliations through platforms like OneStream.
  • Conduct balance sheet reviews focused on high-risk and judgmental accounts.
  • Provide oversight for intercompany transactions, balances, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper recognition, classification, and presentation of capital expenditures and asset accounting.
  • Maintain IFRS16 lease reporting using the Nomos lease management system.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements of reporting processes, controls, and standards across the Oceania finance function.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent credential with several years of post-qualification financial reporting and compliance experience preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with IFRS technical standards, particularly in asset accounting, leases, and tax accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting statutory reporting, audits, and technical accounting tasks.
  • Experience working in multi-entity or multi-jurisdictional environments, preferably spanning New Zealand and Australia.
  • Knowledge of international tax considerations like Transfer Pricing and BEPS Pillar Two is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of establishing trusted relationships with finance teams, group departments, and operational stakeholders.
