About Ammobia

Ammobia is revolutionizing ammonia production with its innovative modular Haber-Bosch 2.0 technology, operating at lower pressures and achieving high single-pass conversions. This advancement cuts capital costs by half, allowing affordable ammonia generation from any hydrogen source, scalable for diverse applications. Backed by major investors like Shell Ventures, Air Liquide, Chevron, MOL, and the US Department of Energy, Ammobia is building critical infrastructure for fuel, fertilizer, and future energy solutions.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Finance & Operations Lead to spearhead our Series A financing and the funding of our Industrial Demonstration and inaugural commercial plants. Reporting directly to the CEO, this pivotal role presents significant growth opportunities and requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual comfortable navigating a fast-paced startup setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-lead and execute funding strategies encompassing equity, grant financing, venture debt, and project-level financing instruments.
  • Manage end-to-end alternative and non-dilutive funding streams including grants, venture debt, project debt/equity, and blended financing models.
  • Own fundraising finance activities such as building and maintaining financial models, overseeing the data room, and supporting due diligence processes with investors and lenders.
  • Assist founders and commercial teams in maintaining the business pipeline by tracking deals, partnerships, and offtake discussions.
  • Support FP&A functions by collaborating with accounting, tax, and legal teams; budgeting; monitoring spend and cash flow across projects; and preparing actionable financial reports.
  • Develop and present financial materials to the board and investors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in finance and capital-raising, with practical involvement in various funding structures including equity, grants, venture debt, and project finance.
  • Minimum of four years working in corporate finance, project or structured finance, particularly within project infrastructure, energy, climate-related investment, consulting, or fast-growth startups.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, capable of building, stress-testing, and articulating complex models.
  • Adaptable and versatile, comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in dynamic environments.
  • Passion for climate technology or heavy industries such as chemicals, fertilizers, energy, heavy transport, or manufacturing.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in San Francisco.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with project finance, infrastructure and energy sector financing.
  • Familiarity with grants, government funding (domestic and international), and blended finance.
  • Background in early-stage hardware or climate-tech startups.
  • Experience managing pioneering projects or field commercial pilots.
  • Competence establishing finance systems, tools, or operational processes.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent.
