Job description
Role summary
The Finance Officer will oversee the school’s everyday financial activities, ensuring income and spending are handled accurately, records are kept properly, Saudi compliance requirements are met, and leadership receives reliable financial information for planning and decision-making.
This is a single finance post based on campus, working closely with the Head of School and Project Manager, while also being supported by the wider SEK finance team in Saudi Arabia. Because the school is in its early stages, the role calls for strong structure, careful control, and dependable systems from day one.
Income, fees, and family collections
- Handle the full revenue workflow for the school, including invoices and fee statements.
- Monitor payments made by families and follow up on overdue or missing amounts.
- Keep precise records of family receipts and any unpaid balances.
- Partner with the Admissions Officer to verify payment status before enrolment is confirmed.
- Make sure admissions decisions remain aligned with financial rules and compliance requirements.
- Apply the school fees policy correctly and communicate it consistently.
Payments, expenditure, and records
- Make sure suppliers and service providers are paid on time and in a controlled way.
- Maintain organised documentation for invoices, contracts, payments, and outstanding commitments.
- Track spending and share clear financial updates with people responsible for budget decisions.
- Keep financial data accurate, current, and easy to retrieve.
Reporting and financial oversight
- Prepare recurring financial reports, such as monthly updates.
- Show income received, spending to date, and the budget still available.
- Provide dependable financial information to school leaders to support planning and decisions.
- Maintain records in a way that supports annual accounts, internal checks, and external audits.
Compliance and Saudi requirements
- Help ensure compliance with Saudi financial and regulatory rules, including invoicing and VAT where applicable.
- Support company registration, licences, and official financial submissions in coordination with the Project Manager and external advisers.
- Work within SEK group financial standards and procedures, adapting established methods from the sister school.
Collaboration and systems
- Manage the school’s local accounting systems, building on the framework already used by the sister school.
- Coordinate with the SEK Riyadh finance team to obtain guidance, raise issues, and stay aligned.
- Work with admissions, operations, and leadership teams so that finance processes support wider school operations.
Qualifications and experience
- A formal qualification in accounting or finance is required, either a degree or a professional certification.
- About 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.
- Strong understanding of financial operations, internal controls, and reporting.
- Experience in the Saudi context is a strong advantage.
- A structured, careful working style with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to colleagues without a finance background.
- Comfort working independently while also collaborating across departments.
- English is the working language for the role.
- Arabic is a significant advantage.
- Saudi nationals are preferred.
Why this role stands out
- Play an important part in launching and running a new international school.
- Help create strong financial systems from the ground up.
- Benefit from guidance and support from an established finance network.
- Join a professional workplace within a distinctive and fast-moving education project.
