Role Overview

The Finance Manager will oversee the Trading and Returns division within Commercial Finance. This role demands a seasoned finance professional with proven success in dynamic retail or e-commerce settings. The ideal candidate excels in financial modeling, trading performance evaluation, and returns economics, transforming complex data into insightful, actionable information for senior leadership. The role balances current trading insights with strategic commercial foresight to enhance revenue growth and profitability, ensuring financial discipline and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and nurture trusted partnerships with directors and executive-level stakeholders.
• Support ASOS’s long-term objectives by developing comprehensive financial plans and KPIs for Trading and Returns.
• Constructively challenge and influence stakeholders to optimize commercial results.
• Manage all aspects of commercial trading performance and KPIs, presenting findings to senior leaders.
• Lead trading-related forecasting, budgeting, and planning, aligning strategy with outcomes.
• Communicate the monthly Trade & Returns financial narrative, collaborating with Financial Accounting and FP&A teams.
• Provide forward-looking analysis on trading performance and drivers.
• Assess and support commercial initiatives with measurable analysis and ongoing tracking.
• Enforce governance and financial discipline over expenditures and investments.
• Promote a culture of ownership, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous development.
• Lead and mentor two commercial finance analysts to high performance.
• Develop strong succession plans, team capabilities, and employee engagement.
• Champion Diversity, Equity & Inclusion within the team.
• Maintain governance controls without compromising speed in a fast-paced trading environment.
• Drive process simplification, automation, and continuous improvements in financial workflows and reporting.
• Leverage AI tools, such as automation and generative AI, to foster business growth.
• Collaborate closely with FP&A to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and process efficiency.

Working Arrangement

The role is onsite in London, with an expectation of at least three days per week in the office to facilitate faster decision-making, better collaboration, and team culture development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified accountant designation (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Extensive post-qualification experience with success in senior commercial finance roles in active trading environments.
• Demonstrated ability to partner and influence at Director and Executive levels.
• Strong commercial insight with the capability to convert financial data into strategic business actions.
• Proven leadership in managing and developing high-performing finance teams.
• Advanced skills in financial modeling, forecasting, and analytics.
• Experience backing business transformation or growth initiatives.
