Role Overview

The Finance & Accounting Manager will helm the maritime business’s financial and accounting departments. Responsibilities include directing financial reporting, managing vessel accounting and associated voyage transactions, overseeing periodic financial closings, and providing comprehensive management reports and financial analyses. The role requires managing cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and enforcing financial controls while aiding operations and commercial teams with financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions.
  • Manage vessel accounting and financial transactions related to voyages.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial closing procedures.
  • Generate management reports and analyze financial performance.
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes.
  • Monitor liquidity, cash flows, and working capital needs.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain relationships with auditors, banking institutions, and other external parties.
  • Enhance internal controls and corporate governance protocols.
  • Provide financial analysis and support to commercial and operational teams.
  • Drive opportunities for process improvements and greater efficiencies.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant finance and accounting experience within maritime or shipping sectors.
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, ACA, or an equivalent credential is preferred.
  • Prior experience working for a shipping company, ship management firm, or vessel owning organization is mandatory.
  • Solid understanding of vessel accounting and shipping financial operations.
  • Proficiency in finance functions such as budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and managing cash flow.
  • Strong analytical thinking and effective business partnership skills.
  • Advanced capabilities in Excel and familiarity with financial software systems.
  • Fluency in English is required.
