About the Role
Stowe Australia is inviting experienced Fibre Technicians to register their interest for project work across Melbourne, Adelaide and the Northern Territory. These positions will be employed through the Melbourne office and will require travel to project sites as needed. Travel and living-away-from-home expenses are fully covered by the employer. The work pattern is generally organised on a three-week rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fibre optic splicing and jointing tasks.
- Complete connector assembly and fibre termination, including polishing and final end-face finishing.
- Test fibre optic networks and troubleshoot faults.
- Prepare fibre and manage cable handling activities.
- Carry out long-distance cable hauling.
- Maintain strong standards of workmanship, quality and on-site safety.
- Adapt to varied project settings, including remote work locations.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, project teams and clients.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in fibre splicing.
- Hands-on ability with connector assembly, termination, polishing and end-face finishing.
- Practical knowledge of testing, fibre preparation and cable hauling over long distances.
- Background in construction, communications or infrastructure projects.
- Willingness to work away from home on a rostered basis.
- Strong focus on safety and quality.
- Current White Card / Construction Induction.
- Current driver’s licence.
- ACMA Open Cabling Registration or a relevant telecommunications qualification is advantageous.
- Certificate III in Telecommunications or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Certificate III in Electrical or an A Grade Electrical Licence is highly desirable.
- Experience in remote or regional locations is highly desirable.
- Experience on major communications, defence, utilities or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- First Aid qualification is highly desirable.
- EWP, Working at Heights or other relevant site tickets are highly desirable.
Additional Information
The role is offered through the Melbourne office under Vic EBA wages. Project work will be delivered across Melbourne, Adelaide and the Northern Territory. Employees will receive covered travel and accommodation-related living-away costs, and the role follows a three-week rotational arrangement. Remuneration is competitive and based on skills and experience. This is an opportunity to join one of Australia’s most established electrical and communications contractors.
