Job description

About the Brand

MARIE-LOUISE MÜLLER is a Berlin-based slow fashion label dedicated to couture, wearable art, and accessories crafted with detailed handiwork such as crochet, embroidery, knitting, and hand sewing. The brand exclusively uses natural fibers sourced within the EU and emphasizes upcycling as a fundamental design approach, often investing extensive handcraft labor into each creation. Established in 2025, the label focuses on strengthening the emotional connection between wearer and garment by delivering made-to-order pieces that come with free lifetime repairs. Their debut runway at Berlin Fashion Week with the ESCAPIST GARDEN SS27 collection featured 19 designs and over 2,500 handwork hours, gaining acclaim from Vogue Germany and coverage in prominent fashion outlets. The label has earned numerous awards and has been showcased in leading fashion media and exhibitions, reflecting its rising international reputation.

Role Overview

The Fashion Design Intern will actively assist the label’s creative and production efforts in a full-time, on-site capacity based in the Berlin Metropolitan Area. Duties involve aiding concept creation, refining sketches and designs, assembling mood boards and line sheets, and supporting the translation of design ideas into tangible prototypes. The role includes working with textiles and materials, assisting with handcraft techniques like sewing and finishing, and keeping the studio organized. Additional tasks include contributing to fittings and styling for photo shoots or presentations, helping develop visual content for lookbooks and social media, and collaborating closely with the team to uphold the brand’s slow fashion ethos and craftsmanship standards.

Qualifications

  • A sincere enthusiasm and positive mindset, valued above extensive experience.
  • Basic crochet ability with eagerness to enhance skills; interest in embroidery, knitting, and hand sewing is advantageous.
  • Fundamental knowledge in Fashion Design encompassing sketching, concept work, and pattern basics.
  • Practical experience with textiles and sewing, ideally with a passion for handcraft methods and natural materials.
  • Current enrollment in a fashion or design program requiring a compulsory internship (Pflichtpraktikum).
  • Availability to work full-time on-site in the Berlin area for six months, with start dates between 1 September and 1 October 2026.
  • High attention to detail, manual precision, and patience for meticulous handcraft processes.
  • Interest in slow fashion principles, sustainability, and garment longevity; experience in upcycling is beneficial.
  • Basic fashion styling skills to assist with fittings and look development.
  • Competency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) for creating mood boards, presentations, and visual assets.
  • Fluency in English, which is the working language in the atelier; German language skills are helpful but not mandatory.
