Overview

Crossing Hurdles is seeking experienced civil legal services attorneys for a remote contract position focused on evaluating and enhancing model-generated legal analyses in fields such as housing, family law, and consumer protection. The role entails providing detailed feedback to improve the accuracy and practical utility of legal reasoning systems.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze legal outputs from models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and relevance in civil legal matters.
Assess various hypothetical civil scenarios including landlord-tenant disputes, family law cases, and consumer/debt issues such as collections and bankruptcy.
Detect legal errors, procedural omissions, and jurisdictional differences within model results.
Deliver structured written feedback aimed at enhancing the quality of legal reasoning in large language model (LLM) based systems.
Leverage courtroom experience and client advocacy knowledge to evaluate the practical effectiveness of generated legal responses.

Desired Candidate Profile

Admission to the U.S. bar and good standing with a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
Significant background in civil legal services with expertise in housing law, family law, consumer protection, debt defense, or foreclosure.
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities to provide clear and precise written assessments.
Preferred experience includes working in legal aid, nonprofit legal services, or public interest law.
Knowledge of jurisdiction-specific civil court procedures and commitment to serving underserved populations.

Compensation and Schedule

This is an hourly position offering $120 per hour with a flexible timetable to fit your availability.
