Job description
Role Overview
This role involves leading and managing a diverse team including engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contractors responsible for the operation and maintenance of designated healthcare buildings and estates. The individual will oversee staff skill development, ensure adherence to service standards, coordinate with external agencies, and manage budgets and project costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage technical personnel and contractors in facility management and related operations.
- Plan and implement training programs to enhance staff skills required for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure team members possess the necessary competencies to effectively carry out maintenance work.
- Foster strong working relationships with team members, clients, building owners, and stakeholders to build trust and confidence.
- Prepare and approve regular operational reports including daily, weekly, and monthly submissions to clients.
- Maintain excellent quality service standards throughout facility operations.
- Coordinate with external agencies for new initiatives and major repair and maintenance projects.
- Review and approve tender documents and service specifications.
- Plan, coordinate, and sanction rectification and improvement works based on feasibility studies.
- Manage project costing, financial control, budget submissions, and audit report closures.
- Evaluate contractor performance and certify payments appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with prescribed house rules and disciplinary measures for staff and contractors.
- Provide practical solutions in collaboration with owners, users, consultants, and vendors to meet engineering functional requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections to confirm maintenance programs are implemented in line with established guidelines and safety protocols.
- Promptly assign technical resources to address maintenance breakdowns and complaints, and report progress to the Facility Management Head of Department.
- Handle maintenance complaints, investigations, and subsequent rectifications efficiently.
- Ensure proper custody of tools and uphold good housekeeping standards.
- Perform additional tasks as delegated by the Senior Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field pertinent to facilities maintenance and project management from an accredited institution.
- Have a minimum of ten years’ experience in a related role, preferably within healthcare facility environments.
- Exhibit the ability to work independently with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrate a proactive work style with the capacity to operate effectively under minimal supervision and within high-pressure settings.
- Maintain a service-oriented approach with high levels of integrity and initiative.
- Showcase strong leadership qualities, with excellent planning, organizational, and quality management skills.
