About the Role
We are seeking an Export Operations Specialist to join DHL Global Forwarding in Christchurch, New Zealand. Reporting directly to the Export Manager and with a dotted line to the Christchurch Branch Manager, this role involves coordinating and managing all export operational processes from start to finish. Key responsibilities include booking cargo with airlines, handling documentation, liaising with customers and carriers, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to facilitate smooth international export shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely coordination and booking of cargo with airlines on behalf of customers.
- Manage export files including creation, updating, invoicing, and closing in line with company procedures.
- Carry out export transactional activities complying with internal policies, customs rules, and destination regulations.
- Prepare, review, and distribute necessary export documents such as Air Waybills, Certificates of Origin, cargo manifests, security declarations, and regulatory paperwork.
- Develop and maintain strong, transparent relationships with assigned customers through proactive communication.
- Handle security-related tasks including Known Shipper verifications and Regulated Agent certifications.
- Achieve all assigned key performance indicators (KPIs).
Required Qualifications and Skills
- At least two years of experience in freight forwarding, with preference for export-focused expertise.
- Familiarity with CargoWise software.
- Strong customer service aptitude coupled with excellent communication abilities to sustain positive client relationships.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
- Capability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Qualification in Dangerous Goods (DG) is advantageous.
