This is a full-time estimator position in the construction sector based in Columbia, Maryland. The role centers on preparing accurate bids and cost projections for a range of building projects. The employer is seeking someone with at least 3 years of hands-on estimating experience and a strong record of producing competitive, precise proposals. The compensation range provided for this opportunity is $70,000 to $100,000 per year, and the position includes bonus potential.

What the role involves

  • Build detailed project estimates and bid packages using drawings, specifications, and related project documents.
  • Interpret project plans and technical requirements to calculate labor, material, time, and overall cost estimates.
  • Work with clients, vendors, internal teams, and construction supervisors to clarify information, resolve issues, and finalize estimates.
  • Carry out special analyses to set standard labor-hour data and identify opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Compare material and labor needs to decide whether making components in-house or buying them is the better financial option.
  • Prepare regular cost reports, spending summaries, and other project documentation throughout the job cycle.
  • Monitor cost performance against submitted bids as projects progress.
  • Keep pricing records current and well organized so estimates are based on accurate market data.

What the employer is looking for
