Role Overview

The Estimator position at MAAS DPC is a full-time onsite role based in Australia, tasked with generating comprehensive cost assessments for construction and associated projects. The role encompasses evaluating labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses to ensure accurate budgeting and tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review architectural and engineering drawings along with project specifications.
  • Measure and quantify required materials accurately.
  • Obtain, assess, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare detailed tender documents and budget estimates.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and other key stakeholders to clarify project scope, recognize risks, and refine estimates throughout project phases.
  • Maintain and update cost databases regularly to reflect current market conditions.
  • Support value engineering efforts to optimize project costs and outcomes.
  • Produce clear and organized documentation and reports to facilitate project decision-making.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or a similar field, ideally within the Australian construction industry.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency with numerical data, including the interpretation of technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.
  • Competency in using estimating software and common office productivity tools such as Excel and database applications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to effectively coordinate with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • High level of accuracy, organizational aptitude, and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, industry standards, cost factors, and prevailing market prices.
  • Formal education or certification in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering, or related disciplines will be advantageous.
  • Adherence to ethical standards, workplace health and safety guidelines, and promotion of non-discriminatory practices.
