Job description
About the Role
ESPN is seeking a Digital Video Newsroom Intern to support the creation of fast-moving sports video content for its digital channels. This role is designed for a developing video editor who wants hands-on experience in a high-energy sports media setting. You will learn how trending clips, custom edits, and digital highlights are produced for ESPN audiences in the U.S. and around the world. The internship is remote and is expected to run from September through December 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Spot sports and social moments that are gaining traction and turn them into engaging digital video pieces.
- Work with both internal and external partners to create and share videos that attract new viewers.
- Review performance data and use it to suggest changes that can strengthen audience engagement.
- Keep projects moving on time by managing production schedules and deadlines carefully.
- Follow new trends, tools, and best practices to help improve content across ESPN platforms, including YouTube.
Required Skills and Experience
Applicants should have experience in digital and social media work, with some exposure to video production and content creation. Familiarity with non-linear editing software such as Premiere, Final Cut, Avid, Quantel, or After Effects is important. A solid understanding of current sports storylines, major teams, key players, and wider cultural moments is also needed. The role calls for the ability to recognize social media trends, write strong headlines, package content effectively, and handle several tasks accurately in a busy production environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience editing video for multiple social platforms is an advantage. Candidates who can create mobile-first video and who are comfortable using digital content management systems to organize, publish, and maintain media assets will be especially well suited to the role.
Education
Senior-year students are preferred. A background in Communications, Journalism, Sports Media, or a related field is also preferred.
Eligibility and Program Requirements
- Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree, and taking at least one class at the time they apply, or they must currently be participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- Current Disney Interns, College Program participants, International Program participants, or Culinary Program participants may work for no more than one continuous year (12 months) across any mix of internship and/or program participation.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Applicants must have unrestricted authorization to work.
Additional Information
- A dependable and consistent work schedule is required for the full duration of the internship.
- This is a remote role, so a reliable internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace are necessary.
- The internship requires availability for different shifts, including nights and weekends, and a workload of 40 hours per week.
Compensation
This remote internship pays $22.50 per hour. Some benefits may be included with the compensation package, depending on the level and position offered, and may include medical, financial, or other benefits.
