Job description
About the Company
Samsung C&T’s Engineering & Construction Group is an established engineering, procurement and construction business focused on safety, integrity, trust, authenticity, and challenge. The group delivers value-driven services through strong technical capability across architecture, civil engineering, plants, housing, and green energy. It is also actively growing its renewable energy presence with continued investment in new clean-energy solutions.
Role Summary
The company is looking for a seasoned EPC Delivery Director to support its Energy Business Unit in Sydney. This leadership position will oversee the end-to-end delivery of a renewable energy portfolio across Australia, including Solar, BESS, and hybrid projects. The role is accountable for safe delivery, schedule control, and cost performance across the full project lifecycle.
This position will also help shift the delivery model from standalone project management into a more mature, data-led PMO structure. A key part of the role is to shape the execution framework so the business can scale effectively in the Australian market.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall governance of the active Solar and BESS portfolio, making sure delivery stays aligned with business-unit priorities and financial goals. Provide monthly updates to the Head of ES-AU covering progress, revenue, and margin performance across the portfolio.
Build and introduce a standardized project management framework tailored to local Australian practices.
Set up and run an effective Earned Value Management system, along with a digital dashboard reporting solution that gives clear visibility into cost, schedule, and performance across projects.
Direct site labor strategy and industrial relations planning, with strong attention to Australian site practices and proactive engagement with union stakeholders such as CFMEU and ETU.
Coach and support Project Managers and Construction Managers while promoting technical quality, ownership, and ongoing improvement.
Serve as the senior escalation point for issues involving clients, local authorities, AEMO/NSPs, and government bodies, and help resolve disputes efficiently.
Maintain strong working relationships with construction partners and identify practical, cost-effective delivery approaches.
Support tendering activities by reviewing constructability and applying lessons learned from previous Australian projects.
Required Experience and Background
The ideal candidate brings more than 15 years of experience in large-scale infrastructure, including at least 5 years in utility-scale Solar or BESS projects in Australia.
They should have a proven record of introducing EVM practices and digital reporting tools, with the ability to move confidently between strategy and detailed data analysis.
Strong knowledge of Australian renewable construction methods, WHS legislation, AS4000 and AS4902 contracts, and the local industrial relations environment is essential.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring project personnel is required.
A degree in Engineering or Construction Management is needed, and PMP, CPPM, or an equivalent project-management certification is considered an advantage.
