Role Overview

As an Environments Manager, your primary responsibility will be to govern and oversee the release lifecycle and non-production environments for our clients. Adhering to ITIL-aligned guidelines, you'll coordinate the progression of releases through various testing, pre-production, and production stages, ensuring all environments comply with required standards.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to project teams, stakeholders, and customers by promoting release readiness, environment availability, and ongoing service improvements. Note that this role includes an after-hours duty component to support deployment activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and manage releases across multiple testing and production platforms.
  • Maintain and enforce release management standards, processes, and governance controls.
  • Ensure proper packaging, versioning, and deployment readiness of all release components.
  • Lead release readiness assessments, implementation planning, and post-release reviews.
  • Coordinate migration efforts and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Manage deployment activities within change management systems.
  • Advise development and project teams on change and release management protocols.
  • Confirm operational, security, privacy, support, and implementation criteria are met before going live.
  • Identify and apply continuous improvement strategies within release management.
  • Maintain precise release registers, schedules, and deployment calendars.
  • Oversee management of agreed-upon non-production and managed environments.
  • Provide guidance on creating, modifying, and retiring environments.
  • Monitor environment health, initiating remediation when necessary.
  • Ensure environments are patched, maintained, and aligned with standards and versions.
  • Facilitate environment change assessments, including impact and risk analysis.
  • Manage environment usage, bookings, and schedules with stakeholders and third-party vendors.
  • Resolve conflicts related to environment priorities and contentions.
  • Act as an escalation point for environment-related issues or incidents.
  • Support technical teams and projects in fulfilling new environment requirements.

Experience and Skills Required

  • At least 5 years of experience in Information Technology environments.
  • Demonstrated history in Release Management and/or Environment Management roles.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across internal teams, clients, and external vendors.
  • Strong grasp of Release Management principles and best practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Environment Management procedures and governance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within Agile project environments.
  • Background in supporting integrated technology platforms and systems.
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and continuous integration/deployment tools.
  • Experience managing complex enterprise-level environments and managed services.
