Role overview
Larsen & Toubro is hiring an Environmental Manager for the Saidongar project in Mumbai. This position focuses on driving environmental, health, and safety performance at site level, ensuring that operations meet required standards and deliver consistent compliance and improvement.
Key accountabilities
- Lead the EHS function for the operation and support the site in achieving strong performance outcomes.
- Ensure environmental legal obligations are complied with at the project location.
- Work to reduce waste generation across the site.
- Coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders to support environmental initiatives that benefit the project.
- Oversee and maintain environmental management systems at the project site.
- Plan and deliver environmental awareness sessions for contractors, workmen, and staff.
- Compile and submit environmental compliance documentation for CPCB, MPCB, and MoEF & CC requirements.
- Support implementation of the EHS policy and the integrated EHS management system at site.
- Arrange campaigns, competitions, and other focused programmes to encourage environmental awareness in the workplace.
- Carry out internal ISO 14001 audits to track EMS performance.
- Implement good environmental practices such as water conservation, energy efficiency, air pollution control devices, and noise reduction measures.
- Prepare EHS compliance inputs for weekly walkdowns.
- Implement EIA-based control measures to reduce adverse impacts in the work area and monitor measurements.
- Control pollutants and hazardous substances through control systems and continuous monitoring.
- Develop and roll out project-specific guidelines and procedures.
- Promote waste reduction through policy alignment and sound waste management practices.
- Prepare project-specific risk assessments and conduct related training.
- Design and deliver site-specific training for employees, subcontractors, workmen, and visitors.
- Continuously track proactive and reactive EHS performance and help operations implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Apply knowledge and experience relevant to the responsibilities listed above.
Experience and knowledge required
The candidate should have relevant experience in environmental and EHS management, along with familiarity in compliance, EMS/ISO 14001 audits, environmental monitoring, training, and site-level implementation.
