Role overview
This position is responsible for keeping electrical assets dependable and safe through planned upkeep, urgent fault resolution, inventory support, project assistance, and thorough record keeping. The role also calls for issue diagnosis, cost awareness, and strict adherence to HSEF requirements.
The incumbent will help ensure that plant electrical systems operate reliably by carrying out preventive and predictive maintenance, supporting execution quality, and maintaining compliance with internal standards and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day duties in line with applicable policies, procedures, standard operating instructions, and work controls.
- Stay updated on better practices and emerging trends, and contribute ideas for improving systems, processes, and procedures.
- Prepare test methods and formats, and help standardize electrical improvement practices and group guidelines.
- Plan and execute electrical maintenance activities on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules in coordination with planning and plant maintenance teams.
- Perform important electrical maintenance work while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
- Support spare-parts management by identifying required items, monitoring stock levels, checking incoming materials, and helping maintain standardized critical spares.
- Assist with troubleshooting and carry out repair, refurbishment, and restoration of electrical equipment and components.
- Take part in task-based risk assessments for critical jobs and ensure work is done with the correct permits and risk controls.
- Implement management of change actions and CAPEX requirements accurately.
- Contribute to electrical maintenance budgeting and cost control for efficient plant resource use.
- Check availability of manpower, tools, and other resources needed for routine electrical maintenance work.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and ensure recommended corrective actions are completed on time.
- Help execute the lifecycle plan and the 5-year obsolescence plan.
- Ensure full compliance with preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance plans.
- Follow CAT and Meridium recommendations and related actions.
- Participate in safety committees and support implementation of action plans.
- Complete any other work assigned by reporting authorities as required.
Education requirement
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in the Electrical stream is required. A master's degree in Engineering or Technology in the Electrical stream is preferred.
Experience requirement
The role requires 1 to 3 years of experience in industrial or electrical workshop maintenance within a field, industry, or domain setting. Two years of hands-on experience is preferred.
Technical knowledge and competencies
- Working knowledge of maintenance practices for transformers, HT/LT motors, VSDs, UPS systems, battery chargers, battery sets, switchgear, and protection systems.
- Familiarity with SAP PM and MM modules.
- Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions.
