Job description
Role overview
The Shannon Airport Group is hiring a full-time, permanent electrician to help keep the airport campus’ electrical systems operating safely and reliably. This position is based in Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland, and suits someone with a recognised electrical qualification who is comfortable working in a collaborative, day-shift environment.
The work covers a wide mix of landside and airfield assets, with responsibility for keeping them maintained to a high standard. The scope includes planned maintenance as well as reactive and emergency support. Because some of the work is specific to aviation environments, on-the-job training will be provided where needed.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance across electrical infrastructure, including airfield lighting, aerodrome compliance items, building services, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, car park systems, street lighting, lifts and escalators, HVAC, HBS maintenance, heating and water systems, and minor projects.
- Ensure monitoring, reporting, and maintenance activities are completed to the required NSAI and EASA standards.
- Carry out inspections, health checks, and urgent repairs on critical assets.
- Use, support, and encourage correct use of the asset management CMMS.
- Keep a close watch on electrical SCADA systems.
- Assist the Airport Maintenance Management team as required.
Qualifications, experience, and working style
Applicants should have completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship and hold the relevant trade certificates. The role calls for at least 2 to 3 years of experience working as a fully qualified electrician.
Strong knowledge of electrical system design, operation, and maintenance is important, including high-voltage systems, ideally in an airfield or similarly complex environment. Experience in a highly regulated or safety-critical setting is also required.
You should understand NSAI regulations and how they affect maintenance work on major electrical systems, and have a strong focus on health and safety for yourself and others. Good IT ability, especially with Windows-based software, is needed, along with the confidence to communicate well and work effectively with the Airport Engineering Team, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will also bring strong problem-solving ability, a sense of ownership, accountability for results, careful attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a full clean Class B driving licence.
Application details
Applications must include both a CV and a cover letter. The closing time for applications is 12 noon on Thursday 18 June.
