Key Responsibilities
- Identify workplace hazards, environmental impacts, and unsafe conditions, then take prompt corrective action in daily operations and meetings.
- Support the HSE Committee with routine and monthly activities, inspections, and follow-up actions.
- Develop and implement HSE programs, policies, and management systems to meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Close out findings related to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 effectively, including Kerry RSA-related matters.
- Promote safe working practices and deliver training that strengthens safety awareness across the workforce.
- Communicate health and safety requirements across the organization and conduct induction training for new hires, contractors, and visitors.
- Carry out risk assessments and environmental impact assessments to identify and control workplace risks.
- Prepare and submit monthly HSE reports, monitor HSE performance, manage waste, and support ENVIROS SKM / carbon footprint tracking.
- Ensure safety equipment is maintained and up to date, including fire systems, gas detector calibration, SCBA, and related equipment.
- Interpret applicable standards, advise leadership on required actions, and enforce compliance with regulations such as OSHA 1994, EQA, and FMA while maintaining Kerry corporate standards.
- Execute the annual HSE action plan and assess its effectiveness.
- Coordinate HSE committee meetings and activities in line with OSHA 1994 requirements.
- Lead and coordinate Green Team discussions based on DCF targets and issues.
- Work with internal departments and government authorities on HSE matters.
- Coordinate with contractors on site to ensure HSE expectations are followed.
- Recommend and support internal HSE purchases.
- Handle additional tasks assigned by supervisors or related departments.
Qualifications and Skills
- A diploma or higher qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, especially within food or pharmaceutical settings.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1994, EQA 1974, and FMA 1967.
- Registered Safety & Health Officer with a valid Green Book.
- Schedule Waste Competent Person certification is an added advantage.
- Solid project management skills with the ability to deliver initiatives successfully.
