Job description

Role overview

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Educational Clinical Fellows for roles with a CRSA or GEM focus. This is a fixed-term post lasting 12 months, offered at 0.5 WTE. The appointment is made by the Trust rather than the university.

The Trust is the largest teaching partner for UEA Norwich Medical School and supports around 25,000 student days of secondary care placement teaching each year, along with most of the School’s OSCEs.

The Medical Education team sits at the heart of these teaching and assessment activities. It is a dedicated service within the Trust, made up of clinicians, nurses, technicians and administrators who coordinate secondary care placements and deliver OSCEs.

The Clinical Teaching Fellow will be a key member of this team and will contribute directly to the delivery of the UEA Norwich Medical School MB/BS programme, covering both Undergraduate Medicine and Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM).

Main duties

The role includes clinical teaching, assessment, and related educational support. The exact balance of duties will be agreed with the Associate Medical Director, and applicants should expect some flexibility in how the post is shaped.

  • Lead delivery of the clinical skills teaching programme.
  • Support the team with planning, development, and supervision of clinical skills teaching.
  • Provide appropriate clinical skills teaching in collaboration with the clinical skills team and relevant module teams, usually in small or very small groups.
  • Take part in OSCE assessment for MBBS students.
  • Assist with OSCE planning and the creation of exam questions when required.
  • Support development of written questions alongside clinical teams when requested.
  • Undertake additional smaller duties depending on the appointee’s interests and availability.

Professional development

Educational teaching fellows are encouraged to build their experience in medical education by attending courses and pursuing further qualifications.
