Job description
Overview
Penrith City Council invites applications for Duty Manager roles within the Venue Operations Team, overseeing Aquatics and Leisure venues. These positions include temporary full-time, part-time, and casual roles available for summer seasonal contracts from October 2026 to April 2027, with training starting in September. Shifts vary between early mornings and late evenings, including weekends, and may be required across multiple venues including splash parks within the Local Government Area (LGA).

Key Duties
- Manage daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, and smooth service at Aquatics and Leisure venues
- Serve as the initial contact point for operational matters, staff, contractors, and stakeholders
- Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain clear communication with customers and team members
- Support and develop staff through mentoring, coaching, and training activities
- Resolve operational challenges and implement improvements to enhance service delivery
- Provide feedback and suggest enhancements for departmental procedures and operations
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, relevant legislation, and workplace health and safety requirements
- Participate in change management initiatives and support a collaborative, positive team culture
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold Council’s Code of Conduct and value system
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possession of a Pool Lifeguard Certificate (Pool Lifeguard Skill Set)
- A valid Lifeguard Licence
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Qualification as a Pool Plant Operator (Aquatic Technical Operator Skill Set)
- Current NSW Working with Children Check
- Proven leadership and mentoring abilities with strong staff coaching skills
- Capacity to independently manage daily venue operations, troubleshoot issues, and make sound decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant environment according to regulations
- Ability to foster teamwork and positive workplace culture
