About the role
This position is for an experienced Divisional Health, Safety & Security (HSS) Manager to shape, roll out, and continuously strengthen HSS practices across business operations. The role focuses on building a strong safety mindset, maintaining compliance with legal and company standards, lowering operational risk, and supporting improvement across multiple sites and business units.
Key responsibilities
- Create, implement, and keep up to date HSS management systems that reflect recognized international standards and best practices.
- Drive initiatives that encourage a preventive safety culture and help reduce injuries, illnesses, and security events at work.
- Carry out risk assessments and support business risk management activities to detect and reduce operational exposure.
- Track, review, and present divisional HSS results through formal reporting and governance channels.
- Design and run HSS audit, inspection, and assessment programs across operations.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, legal obligations, and relevant industry requirements.
- Oversee incident investigations and make sure corrective and preventive actions are put in place.
- Lead HSS training efforts to improve awareness, capability, and compliance at all organizational levels.
- Advise operational teams, projects, and stakeholders on HSS matters and provide practical support when needed.
- Manage, mentor, and develop HSS teams so they can meet business goals and improve continuously.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a similar discipline is required.
- NEBOSH certification, a postgraduate qualification in Health & Safety, or an equivalent credential is expected.
- Membership with IOSH at Tech IOSH or Grad IOSH level is required.
- At least 15 years of senior-level HSS management experience in FMCG, manufacturing, food processing, supply chain, or another large industrial setting is required.
- Applicants should have solid knowledge of risk management, workplace inspections, incident investigation, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder handling, communication, coaching, and influencing abilities are important.
- The role requires the ability to juggle multiple priorities and lead safety programs in varied operating environments.
- Experience managing HSS across multiple sites and large workforces is necessary.
