Role Overview

The Disability Support Worker position entails providing direct assistance to individuals with disabilities at our Supported Independent Living (SIL) residences or Day Programs. The role requires hands-on support to aid daily activities, promote autonomy, and ensure a safe and stimulating environment while collaborating closely with a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver practical support to individuals in day-to-day tasks enhancing their self-reliance.
  • Ensure safety, wellbeing, and engagement of participants within Casa SIL housing or Day Programs.
  • Work cooperatively with team members to maintain a supportive service environment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven ability in manual handling techniques, personal care provision, and managing challenging behaviors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop trusting relationships.
  • Exhibit patience, empathy, and maintain a constructive outlook.
  • Competency with computers and various software applications.
  • Hold a valid driver's license, NDIS Worker Screen Clearance, Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, and Australian work rights.
  • Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination status.

Desirable Credentials

  • Qualification such as Certificate III in Disability, Individual Support, or similar.
  • Experience working with mental health clients.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals are highly encouraged to apply.
