Job description
Overview
The Director - Safety will lead the development, planning, management, and auditing of EGA’s Safety Management systems across local and international sites. This role ensures alignment with legislation and global standards to advance EGA’s commitment to achieving zero harm.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EGA’s Safety and Governance strategies aligned with overall ESG, sustainability goals, and corporate objectives.
- Provide subject matter expertise to senior leadership, ensuring strategic safety initiatives meet company vision and goals.
- Lead and motivate teams by setting specific performance targets (SMART KPIs) and managing talent development within the safety function.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure effective communication and delivery of safety data and services.
- Oversee budgeting for the safety function, monitoring financial performance and identifying cost-improvement opportunities.
- Create and enforce company-wide safety policies, systems, and procedures to protect employees, assets, and information.
- Lead the development of a comprehensive safety governance framework and ensure compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
- Manage implementation, review, and auditing of safety systems, incorporating updates based on legislative changes.
- Coordinate safety-related projects and conduct meetings, inspections, audits, and compliance assessments across all EGA sites.
- Direct operations at EGA locations, with authority to halt activities posing risks to employee safety.
- Lead incident investigations and analyze accident trends to recommend and implement improvement plans.
- Manage and revise safety training programs for all organizational levels and conduct safety inspections to ensure procedure adherence.
- Implement international safety standards through comprehensive training, awareness campaigns, and a standardized reporting system.
- Monitor regulatory compliance across all international operations via audits and inspections, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Develop strong stakeholder partnerships within and outside EGA, ensuring effective service delivery and ethical standards.
- Champion safety, quality, and environmental policies to guarantee employee well-being, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and change management efforts within safety functions considering global standards.
- Prepare and deliver timely, accurate functional reports in line with EGA standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in safety management, HSSE, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification or diploma in Safety Management.
- Lead Auditor qualification.
- Minimum of 12 years of safety experience in industrial settings, including at least 4 years in a safety management leadership capacity.
